Holistic Coaching for Healing Trauma

If you are struggling and life feels difficult, you are not alone.

Many of us suffer for years from challenges with our thoughts, emotions, behaviours, health, work, or relationships. We might even begin to believe that we are broken, we don’t belong, or that things will never get better.

This is a lonely, dark, and hopeless place to land, but there is a way out. You may be living with unresolved trauma, and together we can explore evidence-based practices specifically designed to help you heal and thrive.

A more harmonious, fulfilling, and connected life awaits.

Trauma is stored in the body, and so is the map to healing.

You hold the wisdom of your entire evolutionary history. In response to physical injury, your body initiates a beautifully complex and sophisticated healing process, as evidenced by the mending of a broken bone or clearing of a bruise. This instinctual healing intelligence developed over hundreds of thousands of years, and it extends to psychological injury as well. With adequate support and nourishment, you will spontaneously move towards healing.

In other words, you were born with an innate capacity to recover from trauma, but sometimes this process is disrupted. One way to define trauma is a lasting emotional response from encountering too much too soon, too much for too long, or too little for too long. After trauma, your nervous system can become trapped in a chronic threat response (fight, flight, fawn, or freeze) that promotes ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving based on fear and/or helplessness. In return, these thoughts, feelings, and behaviours reinforce the threat response in the body, creating a negative feedback loop that can keep you stuck and suffering.

You may have encountered one traumatic experience, such as a life-threatening event, or many traumatic experiences over a long period of time, such as relationships that do not meet your needs (which, to a social species like humans, is a life-threatening situation). If trauma occurred prenatally or before you were able to form explicit memories and communicate with language, you may not know anything different than living in a threat response. You may assume what you are going through and how you feel is part of who you are rather than a result of trauma.

Regardless of what you have been through or how long you have struggled, know that you are hardwired to heal. The services I offer help you restore your natural ability to recover from trauma. Each involves evidence-based practices designed to activate your inner resilience so that you can heal old wounds, resolve present challenges, and begin to live a more harmonious, fulfilling, and connected life.

“I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening.”
