Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience (DARe)
DARe is a groundbreaking approach to healing relational wounds and restoring secure attachment.
DARe is based on attachment theory, which explains how we develop patterns of relating to ourselves, others, and the world around us based on early experiences (attachment styles). Ideally, our caregivers are able to attune to us and consistently meet our needs, resulting in us developing a secure attachment style. If circumstances are not ideal, we adapt to survive and develop an insecure attachment style. Living with an insecure attachment style can create challenges for us as adults with not only our relationships, but also our emotions, thoughts, behaviours, work, and health.
The good news is that our attachment styles are not set in stone – our brain’s neuroplasticity provides us with the ability to repattern. Each of us holds the blueprint for secure attachment within us and this remains present and intact regardless of our experiences in relationships. This is because, as a social species, we evolved with the ability to form safe, loving, and supportive connections. Even as we age, our nervous system remains open to receive the input it needs to restore us to secure attachment. The DARe approach consists of providing therapeutic resolutions for each attachment style and challenge.
“When trauma hits us or we’ve experienced relational wounding, we can feel like we’re utterly disconnected. The good news is we can do something about it.”
– Dr. Diane Poole Heller
